Summerhouse Day Program

Ages 5 to 15 (as of 9/1/2017)

Cook, learn, laugh, dance, and find your unique intelligence through play.

An open framework of daily activity choices offers myriad opportunities for learning and exploration, including sustained, goal-oriented projects.

  • Summerhouse groups of 8-10 students are paired with their own Crew member.
  • Circles – morning and afternoon gatherings to share songs, present work, and play games
  • Free-choice activities open throughout the day
  • Sustained goal-oriented projects

Summer Walks

Explore our city, discovering its hidden gems. On our weekly travel days, we will explore Pasadena’s museums, Eaton Canyon, Arlington Gardens, the Pasadena Library, the Gamble House, and more!

Our flexible drop-in program conveniently allows you to choose which days your child attends. Summerhouse can flow with your daily schedule, work around your vacation plans, and not impact your impromptu beach days.

Buy and use Day Program Passes for just the days your child attends. The more passes you buy at one time, the less the cost per day.

Summer Classes

Build, create, innovate, and collaborate.

From astrology to skateboarding, our engaging three-week classes and one-week intensives are designed to challenge the minds of our older students through a creative approach to academics.

Choose from all the exciting learning opportunities in our Course Catalog – a complete list of classes and descriptions, along with session dates and times.

  • Ages 9-15 (as of 9/1/2017)
  • Extended class periods allow for deep summer learning
  • Three 3-week course sessions:
    Mon/Wed/Fri – 2-hour classes
    Tue/Thu – 2.5-hour sessions
  • Five-day intensives: Mon-Fri – 6 hrs/day; some offered as full 3-week sessions

Crew-in-Training Program

Train and work with Summerhouse Crew.

Summerhouse Crew-in-Training, a four-week leadership program, is an opportunity for students to expand their understanding of responsibility, as well as their sense of self as a part of a working team. Participants will learn lifelong skills like conflict mediation and First Aid/CPR, and grow through real work experience working side-by-side with Summerhouse Crew.

Our CiT Program includes a one-week, full-day training intensive followed by three weeks on hands-on work experience. See info sheet for more information.

Applications and two Letters of Reference are due April 15, 2017.
